The Hammer and Tongs
Case Study
The Hammer and Tongs is a public house in Basingstoke, Hampshire. The licensees, Mim and Kevin Glenn, had recently taken over the lease and were keen to update the pub and its image.
They commissioned The Missing Dimension to create a web site, and to design and produce stationery, menus and advertisements.
We started with a meeting to discuss their ideas, and the image they wanted to project to the community. With this information, and Mim's 'mood board' of cuttings, we went to work.
“They demonstrate an instinctive understanding of the image we want to project, and show a genuine interest in our business, and we trust them with it.”
First we created a colour palette and a design concept. This was well received, and would become the colour scheme throughout the pub re-decoration.
We started developing the web site working closely with them to determine the content. In parallel, we produced co-ordinated business cards and stationery.
During the project, a new community newsletter was introduced in the area, and Mim and Kevin were keen to take a full page advertisement. We now had a deadline to meet - the cut-off date for newsletter submissions.
“The Missing Dimension has played a large part in raising the profile and image of The Hammer and Tongs in the community.”
We pulled out all the stops to submit the advertisement in time, and to put the web site live prior to newsletter publication. To coincide with the web site launch, we produced a two page flyer for local distribution.
“We readily recommend them to anyone needing a web site or graphic designer.”
As the refurbishment progresses, we will be photographing the pub, updating the web site, and producing original artwork to decorate the walls.
Limington House School
The Hammer & Tongs is proud to be part of the local community. The pub and customers have choosen to raise money for the local Limington House School, Basingstoke. The school supports and educates children with special needs between the ages of 2 and 19.
We are glad to be helping them by contributing promotional designs, printing and photograhic coverage for the fund raising events.
